Plein Air Classic Bicycle Race • Weekend of July 4th

The anugrual professional bicycle race consists of a series of races that will take place over a two day period in Taylor, MS. Its expected to attract hundreds of top professional riders from around the southeastern area.

On Friday night, July 3, there will be pre-race registation at the Plein Air Neighborhood in Taylor with catered food from Emileigh's Bakery. Most of the races will take place on Saturday and there is even a bike race for kids. Spectators of the event can enjoy the Taylors Farmer Market, food vendors, live music, and a moon bounce for the kids.

L.Q.C. Lamar House Museum • Tours and Upcoming Exhibits

Rescued by the Oxford-Lafayette County Heritage Foundation in 2004, this national landmark's restoration was completed in spring 2008. Plans call for the house to be made a historic house museum that will reveal the life and times of its namesake, Lucius Quintus Cincinnatus Lamar. Read more...

Abraham Lincoln: Self-Made in America Teaching Trunks now available for teachers to checkout for classroom teaching

Guided Walking Tours of North Lamar Historic District• Every Saturday• May-July 10:30

Guided walking tours of Oxford's North Lamar Historic District will be offered every Saturday morning this spring at 10:30, departing from Skipwith Cottage, next to City Hall on the historic Oxford Square. Guides will point out architectural features, introduce some prominent people from Oxford's past, and explain why two houses have been declared National Historic Landmarks.

Sponsored by the Oxford Convention and Visitors Bureau, guided walking tours are offered as part of its heritage tourism program. Travelers are given a personal, up-close introduction to Oxford, and residents can learn a little more about local history.

Tours are approximately one hour and 15 minutes long and will run every Saturday beginning  April 4, and continuing through July. For more information, contact Mary Allyn Roulhac at 662-232-2477 or tourism@oxfordcvb.com

The Oxford Shakespeare Festival performs three Shakespeare plays this season: "Cymbeline," "The Tempest" and "Iolanthe." "Get Fresh With the Locals" at the Taylor Farmers' Market • Every Saturday • May-October 8:00am

The Taylor Farmers' Market is a weekly celebration of local produce, food, arts, and music. Taylor, MS is only a few miles from downtown Oxford and easy to get to. Every Saturday morning from 8:00-12:00pm in the Plein Air Neighborhood of Taylor, MS you can see what local artists and crafters have to offer.
