Oxford Tourism Opportunity Grant
Program
The goal of the OTO grant program is to promote growth in the Oxford tourism sector
and generate visitors to Oxford. Eligible events are those that target visitors from
outside Oxford and Lafayette County for the explicit purpose of generating
hotel/motel/B&B business and sales among food and beverage establishments in
Oxford, Mississippi. The OTO grant program is funded by the local 2% hotel/motel tax
and the 2% prepared food and beverage tax collected among Oxford establishments and
is administered by the Oxford Convention and Visitors Bureau (OCVB).
Final Report
Due to the new policy implemented for FY2013 grants, there is only ONE grant cycle which was September 2012. The Oxford Tourism Opportunity grant deadline has passed for FY2013. FY2014 grant applications will be available next year, with a deadline of September 2013.
Oxford Tourism Room Rebate Program
Eligible Organizations:
Any Group that brings room nights to Oxford for an event, tour or conference that generates at
least 20 room nights in an Oxford, Mississippi hotel that contributes to the 2% lodging tax is
eligible for the Oxford Tourism Room Rebate Program.
Eligible groups include, but are not limited too:
- motor coach tours
- school groups
- sports teams/ tournaments
- family reunions
- conferences
In-Eligible Groups:
Recipients of Tourism Opportunity Grant Funding are ineligible for the room rebate program.
Requirements and Process:
Groups that meet the room requirement will be deemed eligible and will be funded $3.00 per
documented room night up to $1500.
Following the conclusion of the event or group’s stay in Oxford, the organization or group
leader is required to provide the attached form, a letter outlining your group/event and
provide documentation from the hotel detailing the number of rooms booked by the group.
The only documentation that will be accepted will be a printout of the rooming list. This
rooming list can be requested from the hotel upon checkout.
All required documentation must be provided Oxford CVB within 30 days of the groups stay in
Oxford. If the request is made after 30 days, the group will be ineligible for the rebate.
Reimbursement checks will be written in one lump sum to the group or organization that made
the room block or organized the event.
No group will receive more than $1500 per event, unless approved by the Oxford Tourism
Council

The Tourism Council reserves funding in the CVB budget for the room rebate program.
When that funding has run out the CVB reserves the right to stop the program until the
following fiscal year.
